Scottish Liberal Democrat and Shetland MSP, Beatrice Wishart, is urging Shetland input to the Scottish Government’s ‘Fish stocks: allocation of additional quota’ consultation which is set to close on Thursday 11th January 2023.

Scotland has Additional Quota (AQ) in fish stocks following the implementation of the Trade & Co-Operation agreement (TCA) between the UK and the European Union after the UK left the EU on 1 January 2021.

The current consultation seeks views on how the AQ should be allocated by the Scottish Government.

Ms Wishart said:

“For anyone who is interested and has not done so already I urge them to respond to the consultation on this latest fishing consultation.

“As Shetland’s biggest sector it is important that the Scottish Government hears the local voice.

“What is happening in our seas is known by those fishing in it and views need to be heard by policy makers.”
