Wishart hosts 2025 ‘Wear a Hat Day’ for Brain Tumour Research

Scottish Liberal Democrat and Shetland MSP, Beatrice Wishart, has hosted Brain Tumour Research’s 2025 ‘Wear a Hat Day’ in the Scottish Parliament to raise awareness among parliamentarians of the devastating disease.
The event highlighted the need for research and development of new treatments for brain tumours, which are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under the age of 40.
MSPs took part in a photocall after First Minister’s Questions and Wishart hosted an information drop in session for MSPs to highlight the needs of those diagnosed with a brain tumour and their families.
Wishart is the Convener of the Scottish Parliament’s Cross Party Group on Brain Tumours bringing together politicians from across the political spectrum, charities and medical researchers.
Ms Wishart said:
“I want to thank Brain Tumour Research for once again coming to the Parliament and holding a colourful photo op and informative drop in session for MSPs to learn more about Brain Tumours.
“Thank you as well to my fellow colleagues who came along sporting hats to highlight brain tumours and spending their limited time at the informative session afterwards.
“Today I am re-affirming my calls for more support to improve and develop treatments, research and find a cure, as well as increase support for patients and families.
“I even sported a new hat myself!”
