Shetland MSP and Scottish Liberal Democrat has today encouraged people to engage with the Scottish Government’s consultation on future crofting legislation.

The consultation seeks views on a range of proposals for crofting reform. The Scottish Government states that the reform will help create opportunities for new entrants, encourage the active management and use of crofts and common grazings and support rural population.

The consultation is open until 2 September 2024.

Beatrice Wishart MSP said:

“Reform of crofting legislation is long-awaited. This public consultation provides an important opportunity for people to voice their views on the Scottish Government proposals.

“I encourage anyone involved in crofting to submit a response to the consultation.”
