Scottish Liberal Democrat and Shetland MSP, Beatrice Wishart has highlighted Time to Talk Day (Thursday 1st February 2024), a campaign to create supportive communities by having conversations with family, friends, or colleagues about mental health.

Run UK-wide the campaign is partnered in Scotland with SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health) and See Me. Time to Talk Day was launched in 2014 by Time to Change, a campaign to end mental health stigma and discrimination.

Wishart is a Co-convener of the Scottish Parliament's Cross Party Group on Mental Health. The group provides an opportunity for Members of all political parties, outside organisations and members of the public to meet and discuss the shared interest of Scotland's mental health and wellbeing.

Ms Wishart said:

“Positive mental health is a part of our overall health and addressing mental ill health, and talking about feelings and emotions, is important.

“The pandemic highlighted the crisis in mental health across the country and our young people have been impacted in a way we have not seen before.

“If you are seeking support there is help out there and resources available to anyone. More about SAMH and See Me can be found online.”
